Santo Antão is the opposite of everything else: instead of beaches, thousand-metre mountains. Instead of desert, green valleys with banana trees and sugarcane. It's a hiker's paradise — perhaps the best trekking destination in the Atlantic. Reached by ferry from Mindelo.
